hello again blog...

Brian our family friend let me borrow his Mamiya medium format that he used to use when he was working on fleet street. Basically now i want one. Here are some dodgy first shots - hopefully when I develop the other films I will get some better ones!

d.i.y. darkroom.

after spending ridiculous amounts of money on getting my films developed i decided to have a go at doing it myself to save me some coinage for topshop. more money and more clothes. everyone's a winner.

• d.i.y. measuring cylinders = only thing in the house which has volume measurements = washing powder scoops.
• d.i.y. thermometer = cooking thermometer (you can find out the temperature to make caramel whilst developing)

• d.i.y. developing room = bathroom (retro tiles optional)
• d.i.y. water jugs = natures finest pineapple chunk containers

• d.i.y. drying cabinet = ric +ladder + 2x1 + drawing pin

• d.i.y. drying = the sun.

decided to make myself a pinhole camera out of a matchbox, coke can and a hefty amount of electrical tape blue peter stylee. the photos actually came out which i was pretty excited about. here's one i made earlier...

we had to make a plan for the next 10 years of our career on a folded piece of a2. throughout the whole process i felt massively constricted and just felt like i was being forced to make an impossible to follow set of instructions. i decided to take this theme on board and make some air fix model style instructions for building myself and my 'future life'.

book project.

We had to choose a second hand book and then create a final outcome based on that book. My book was the Guide badge book from 1988. I decided to update the book into modern times using the same badge titles but changing the logos and connotations to make it relevant to youth culture today.

Photography project. We had to create a narrative using six images, i decided to document the rubbish that my flatmate eats on a regular basis. Apparently basics is nicer than taste the difference... i don't believe her.
